PET PEEVE

After much thought, one annoyance came to mind as my pet peeve. As much as some men
thinking they are God's gift to women and some women thinking they are the most beautiful
women to ever walk the earth annoys me to no end, nosy people are the worst. They pry
their way into your social life and love life coming between you and someone you are very
close to. Please, someone tell me how to get rid of them!
From the beginning of my life some nosy person, usually a woman, stuck their nose into my
social life. As a teenager living in my parent's house and having nosy neighbors or even
nosy family friends, made life unbearable. For me, going out with friends was like hiding
from the secret service. No matter where I went I ran into or was seen by a friend of my
parents. Heaven forbid if I was being a kid reeking havoc on the small town of Iwakuni,
Japan. So the one time I went to Hiroshima with a guy friend I got spotted by one of
"them." That snoopy little weasel was just itching to tell my parents they saw me with a
guy. She disintegrated my social life from a busy bee to a hermit crab. Sometimes I think
they find joy in making me miserable. I still feel as though I have all eyes on me even
though my parents are still in another country. I know they probably have spies who do
not know what else to do with their life but make mine depressing.
Meddling strangers in my love life is even worse. They step in to try and give me advice
on how to fix this or that. Many times they do not know the slightest thing about love.
Do not get me wrong, it is not always advice giving "pests" that step into my life. I
also get those that tell me, "He isn't your type. I know this guy who is perfect for
you." How in the world do they know what my "type" is, and who will be my perfect match?
Of course we cannot forget the famous, "Why do you like him? He is so...eeww! Just tell
me how you can like a guy like him." From experience, I can tell you that no matter what
the reason may be, it will never be good enough to satisfy this "blood-sucking love
leech." Now, let us not forget, "Are you sure you know what you are doing?" Well, thank
you for the vote of confidence. If I did not know what I was doing I certainly would not
come to you for help! I wonder if these people want me to fall in love or if they just
want me to be miserable for the rest of my tampered-with life.
I have dealt with such insipid creatures all my life and have had many unpleasant
experiences with them. The make my life a living nightmare. I've slowly learned to be
careful in what I say and do. I will admit that I used to be one of these meddlesome
ingrates but I realized the pain suffered by all those who were just wishing to have a
little fun without any horrible consequences. By horrible consequences, I am talking
about the parental units. They are unpredictable.
